ICCR AFRICA SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME 2018-19






Indian Council of Cultural Relations announces the Africa Scholarship Scheme 2018-19 for Seychellois Nationals.  Last date of application:  31 January 2018.

The Government of India under the aegis of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is offering NINE scholarships within the framework of the Africa Scholarship Scheme to Seychellois nationals wishing to study at graduate, post graduate or research levels in various prestigious universities and educational institutions in India during the academic year 2018-19. 
The scholarships include enrolment and course fees, besides a fixed amount of living expenses for the full duration of the course and return economy class airfares to the nearest international airport to the place of study in India.  
Applicants are requested to log onto “Admissions to Alumni” (A2A), the Scholarship Portal developed by ICCR at http://205.147.97.190/iccr/ This portal contains all the relevant information for the applicants including details of all State Universities, Central Universities and Institutes, colleges affiliated with them, courses available, availability of hostels, applications guidelines, eligibility criteria and other relevant information for helping the applicants in decision-making while applying for the academic courses of their preference.
Please carefully note the following:
  •  Applications should be submitted latest by 31 January 2018 through the online application mechanism. Applications will only be accepted through the portal.
  • Only students proficient in English will be recommended for admission.
  • Applications should be complete in every detail. Kindly read the guidelines on the portal.
  • Applicants should clearly mention the course to which they are seeking admission while mentioning choices.
  •  Applicants are advised to go through the courses offered by the Universities carefully before finally submitting the application form. List of Universities where ICCR students are currently studying is available at ICCR Website www.iccr.gov.in
  • ICCR does not award scholarship for MBBS/BDS courses and Casual Research/Diplomas/Short-term courses.
  • Applicant must produce a medical fitness certificate from the recognized hospital in the prescribed format available with the online application form. 
  • Students applying for M.Phil/Doctoral/Post-Doctoral courses should submit a synopsis along with the application.
  •  For science courses, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the students themselves.
  •  Students wishing to pursue performing arts should upload Video/Audio/YouTube link
  •  An applicant should have studied mathematics, physics and chemistry at Higher Secondary level to be eligible for admission to science/engineering courses
  •  All students will have to stay at hostels.  No exception for family or health reasons will be made. 
  •  Only students who reach 18 years of age by July 2018 will be recommended for admission.
  • Submission of application form does not guarantee confirmed admission.
  •  Indian Universities/ Educational institutions are autonomous and independent bodies and have their own eligibility criteria on the basis of which they confirm admissions.

Responsibilities of Foundation Scholarship Students
1 Each year that you take the benefit of free accommodation you will need to sign the normal rental agreement for your room and abide by the standard terms and conditions of the tenancy.  Breaking the tenancy agreement will most likely result in loss of your scholarship.     
2 You must ensure that the Foundation team and your university always have up to date mobile and email contact details so that you can be kept informed of Scholarship opportunities and deadlines.

Post-Doctoral Scholarships at Tel-Aviv University




Call for Applications 2018-19
The Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program attracts high-achieving postdoctoral researchers from premier universities in the United States to do research at one of four Israeli universities. Once they complete their research, many Zuckerman postdocs are expected to accept faculty positions at top North American universities, weaving a network of academic collaboration and goodwill that will greatly benefit U.S.-Israeli scientific cooperation. The Zuckerman Postdoctoral program strengthens the connection between the participants and the countries of the United States and Israel through unique experiences and new relationships formed during the program.  In addition, Zuckerman scholars enjoy programming and activities specially organized for them by the host universities, such as sightseeing tours, educational experiences, and social programs. These activities are aimed at strengthening the scholars’ knowledge of and affiliation with Israel, and at cultivating an esprit de corps within the program.

Duration and Funding
 • Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholarships are up to two years.
 • The amount of the stipend is $50,000 per year up to two years, with $36,000 each year devoted to living expenses and $14,000 each year for research ($10,000) and travel ($4000) expenses.

Eligibility
• Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars are chosen through a rigorous selection process, based on their academic and research records and their letters of recommendation, without regard to race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or age.
• The selection committee assesses candidates’ potential to make cutting-edge contributions in STEM fields, as well as their demonstrated leadership qualities.
 • Five postdoctoral scholarships are allocated to Tel-Aviv University.
 • Candidates must be citizens of the United States or Canada, from premier universities and those who have unlimited residence permit (have a documented status that allows them to study and work in the country).
• Candidates are requested to write a short letter of intent declaring their plans to return to the United States or Canada and compete for a position at the university there.
• Candidates are expected to secure and submit written consent from a potential supervisor at TelAviv University along with their application. Candidates may apply to more than one University.
 • Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree from a premier university, or if still studying for a Ph.D., must submit their Ph.D. thesis before October 1, 2018.
• Applications can be submitted for the upcoming deadline by candidates who began their postdoctoral training at the host institution after October 1, 2017; or who will arrive to begin their training no later than October 1, 2018. 

Academic and Social Activities 
• Zuckerman scholars are required to participate in sponsored events and activities during the academic year. These events include but are not limited to: 
  •  a day-long academic event at each participating university campus
  • visits to various departments, research programs, and research facilities, including opportunities to meet students and faculty at other universities
  • a Zuckerman Institute scientific seminar with media coverage that will be open to the public, where selected postdoctoral scholars from all the participating universities in the Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program will present their research 

• In addition, scholars will be invited to social activities and sightseeing trips. They will be exposed to Israeli culture, meet with various sectors and ethnic groups, and visit science   parks and high-tech incubators, etc., in Israel.  

Publications
 • Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars must identify themselves as members of the Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program in all academic and scientific papers, articles, publications, presentations, etc. through duration of participation in the program. 

Required Documents 
1.  CV including a paragraph on demonstrated leadership qualities + list of publications (minimum of three publications), listing the impact factor of the journals in which papers were published.
2. Written confirmation that the candidate is entitled to a Ph.D. degree and the date it was awarded, or  an administrative confirmation that the candidate’s doctoral thesis was sent to referees.
 3. Research proposal (maximum 3 pages).
4.  Letter of support from the potential supervisor.
5.  Three letters of recommendation, including a letter from the candidate’s PhD supervisor. If possible, one letter should be from a university other than the one where the candidate’s PhD was granted.
 6.  Personal statement detailing the candidate’s future career plans.
7. A short letter of intent declaring the candidate's plans to return to the United States or Canada and   compete for a position at the university there.

Scholarships for Masters Studies in the United Kingdom 2018-19



1. Introduction

2. Scholarships 
ScottishPower will provide scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year for postgraduate studies at universities in United Kingdom in the following areas of knowledge:  
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Renewable/Sustainable  Energy
  • Environmental Sciences /Climate Change
  • Global Energy Management
  • Computer Science and Software Engineering
  • Cyber Security and Information Security
  •  Big Data Analytics and Science 

The announcement period opens on the day of its publication and ends at 13:00 on 2ndApril 2018.
The scholarships are intended for studies at the following universities in the United Kingdom:  
     1. Imperial College of London 
     2. University of Edinburgh 
     3. University of Strathclyde
     4. University of Liverpool 
     5. University of Glasgow
     6. University of East Anglia
     7. University of Cambridge 
3. Applicant Requirements  
  • Applicants must be in possession of a bachelor with honours or master’s degree from a recognised university on submission of the application. If the applicant is still in the final year of the academic course 2017-2018, the grant will be contingent upon whether the applicant secures the university degree at the end of the academic cycle in June/July 2018 with the same average grades or greater than the predicted grades at the time of the call for applications. 
  •  Applicants must follow the usual procedure for enrolling at the UK University they wish to attend. Applications submitted by students who have not applied for enrolment at the UK University will be rejected during the selection process.   
  •  Applicants may not receive any remuneration or wages or be in receipt of any scholarship, financial aid or other award of a similar nature from institutions and public or private foundations during the period that the scholarship is awarded for.   
  • Applications presented by candidates with a grade average during the pursuit of the degree lower than "upper second class honours” for universities in the UK will be rejected. 
  •  Candidates who have previously been awarded a ScottishPower or its Foundation scholarship are excluded from assessment. 

4. Documentation  
To be eligible for the Scholarship, the interested party must fill in and send the electronic application form1  before 13:00 (UK time) on April 2nd 2018, including the following documentation which must be named with the number of document followed by the surname of the applicant e.g. Document 1 Smith: 
 Document :1. Photocopy of passport. 
 Document 2. CV, with a recent photo of the applicant.  
 Document 3. If university studies have been completed, a photocopy of the certificate or a receipt proving that the certificate has been requested, as well as a photocopy of other qualifications obtained by the applicant.  
 Document 4. For those students who hold a university degree, a photocopy of the certificates for university studies completed, detailing all the subjects and grades obtained each year. Final year students may submit an official listing of the subjects studied and the grades obtained so far.   Document 5. Two original reference letters from university professors.  In those cases where the applicant has been employed for several years, one of the reference letters may be from his/her employer.  
 Document 6. Certificate accrediting all the languages level specified in the form. 
 Document 7. Contract or employment record accounting for the applicant's professional experience, if any. 
 Document 8. Certificate accrediting the awards and grants specified in the form. Only awards and grants gained since the commencement of your university career will be accepted. 
 Document 9. Certification confirming either a conditional or unconditional offer to the proposed University for the 2017-2018 course. If application outcome is still pending, please provide proof of registration.  
The above are the minimum certifications required for accepting an application in the selection process for this scholarship announcement.  
If the applicant is shortlisted, ScottishPower may ask for the original or duly certified copy of the documents and any other document that it may deem to be necessary.  
The maximum size permitted per document is 3 MB. 

5. Selection Process

The selection process will include an initial shortlist of candidates, taking into account academic qualifications, their CV, the interest of their area of studies and reference letters.  
ScottishPower will request confirmation of enrolment/ admission to the corresponding university for the selected course. Applications which have been rejected by the University for the selected programme will not be taken into consideration in the scholarship award process.

Online testing 
Applicants will be requested to complete online testing designed to measure three types of ability: Numerical, Deductive, and Inductive. 
Personal interview   
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a competency based interview with a selection committee to take place in April or May 2018.  

6. Candidate Nomination
Once the interviews have been conducted, the selection committee will propose the list of selected candidates. The successful candidates will be advised in June 2018. 
The final nomination of candidates is subject to the following conditions being met:  
  •  Receipt of a signed Acceptance Letter dated at the most five working days after the date from which the successful candidates were advised to the following postal address:

The Acceptance Letter will be provided to the success candidates by email on the date on which the successful candidates are advised.  
  •  Submission to ScottishPower before July 9th 2018 of a certification of final admission to study at the chosen UK University. If admission is rejected by the University, the candidates will lose their right to the scholarship.   
  •  Submission by final-year students of the official certification showing that they have obtained the corresponding degree. Failure to complete the studies will result in cancellation of the scholarship.   

7. Financial Contribution 
The scholarship will cover the following:  
 Enrolment costs at the university in the United Kingdom.
  •  £14,400 a year to cover per-diem and material expenses. This amount will be paid out in £1,200 monthly instalments. 
  • The Scholarship will have a maximum duration of one calendar year from the beginning of the studies programme.  

ScottishPower will also provide local support to the scholarship recipients where appropriate.  
The amounts of the Scholarship will be paid in the currency of the country of origin i.e. UK Students in GBP.  
All payments will be subject to UK income tax.  

8. Scholarship Management 
The Scholarship recipient must fulfil the following obligations:     At the request of ScottishPower, the candidate must prove, with originals or certified copies of the documents, the necessary information for the selection process sent as either photocopies or electronic files.   Furthermore, ScottishPower may ask for certification of any data mentioned in the candidate's CV.  
  •  Carry out the planned studies according to the submitted application. The Scholarship recipients must start the study. Those candidates who obtain a scholarship shall be obliged to begin the programme of studies at the autumn term, September-October, of the academic year 2018-2019, and finish their studies in 2018-2019. 
  •  During the course, ScottishPower will ask the scholar for information that confirms good progress towards the Master’s, in addition to completing their studies, the scholar is required to answer a questionnaire provided by ScottishPower and send the results of the studies carried out.  
  •  The Scholarship recipients must inform ScottishPower of their place of residence immediately after their arrival at their respective University. Furthermore, they must inform of any change of address or email over the period of time that the Scholarship is awarded.   
  • ScottishPower will provide scholars with support for their Master’s research projects. This may include work experience at a ScottishPower location and/or an opportunity to collaborate with ScottishPower on their research project.   
  • If any work resulting from the studies is published, the author must state his/her status as a scholarship recipient of ScottishPower and submit a copy of the publication to ScottishPower.
  • If the Scholarship recipient does not fulfill these obligations – or any other obligation included in the scholarship's conditions – ScottishPower reserves the right to act as it deems appropriate, including

In accordance with the relevant Personal Data Legislation (which includes the Spanish Act 15/1999, Data Protection Act 1998 and General Data Protection Regulation), , we will process your personal data and all the information within in order to assess your scholarship application and, if successful, in order to start the relevant arrangements regarding the scholarship. 

PURPOSE
The candidate's personal data is processed in order to analyse their suitability during a scholarship selection process in accordance with these Terms.. 
ScottishPower and Iberdrola guarantee the confidentiality of said personal information and the processing of data only for the purposes described in the Terms. Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be applied to guarantee an acceptable level of risk, bearing in mind the current state of the art, the costs of application and the nature, scope and context of the use of the data processing, as well as the risks of probability and seriousness for the rights and freedoms of individuals.

LEGITIMATION
The legal basis for data processing is necessity for the purpose of fulfilling the contract between ScottishPower and the applicant to provide funding which includes taking steps prior to awarding funding under the contract.  IBERDROLA S.A. also has a legitimate interest in processing this personal data as part of the Group's internal administrative management.

RECIPIENTS
In order to process your scholarship application and to decide if your application has been successful, your data may be communicated to companies that provide psychometric testing services. 

RIGHTS
You have the right to access your personal data, as well as to request the rectification of inaccurate data or its deletion, where the information in question is no longer required for the purposes for which it was initially collected. You also have the right of apposition to or limitation to the processing and portability of the data.

Guidelines for CFHC Scholarships for the 2018-2019 Academic Year






Welcome to Community Foundation of Henderson County’s scholarship program. The generosity of donors giving charitable contributions through the Community Foundation make CFHC scholarships possible. 
The Scholarship Guidelines offer descriptions of each scholarship being offered by the Community Foundation for the 2018-2019 academic year. The guidelines and application can be found online at www.CFHCforever.org/scholarships. Guidance counselors at area schools are a resource for applications as well.  

DEADLINE:  Wednesday, January 31, 2018 on or before 5 p.m.                           
 Any application received after the deadline will not be considered.

A typed biographical statement of 500-600 words in Times New Roman font explaining an applicant’s educational goals, qualifications and/or financial need is required. Applicants should give this special attention as the scholarship committee reviews biographical statements carefully. 
Some scholarships require that applicants submit additional information. R ead the application form carefully to see if a particular scholarship(s) being applied for requires additional documentation.

Particular CFHC scholarships are offered each year depending on the availability of funding. Only the scholarships listed in these guidelines are available for the 2018-2019 academic year. Unless otherwise stated, successful scholarship recipients may re-apply for their scholarship award for up to three subsequent years, as long as funds are available. 
You are encouraged to explore as many different scholarship resources as possible. Guidance counselors are a resource for opportunities. The Community Foundation’s website at www.CFHCforever.org/scholarships lists online resources about scholarships and financial assistance.

AMERICAN LEGION, Post 77, Hubert M. Smith Scholarship    $1,250 - 1 year only
 The applicant must be the son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter or stepchild of a current member in good standing for 12 months prior to the scholarship deadline, or of a deceased member in good standing at the time of his death, of Hubert M. Smith, Post 77, American Legion. The applicant must be age 23 or less at the time of the application and be a graduating senior or graduate of a public, parochial or private school who intends to enroll in a two-year or four-year degree granting program. **You must submit a letter from the organization’s leadership verifying that you meet criteria**  William C. ARMSTRONG Scholarship        $1,500 The recipient shall be a citizen and resident of Henderson County and shall have graduated from a high school in Henderson County. The applicant must need financial assistance to attend a post-high school institution. The applicant will be committed to the purposes of conservation and preservation of wildlife and the pursuit of a course of study in wildlife management and related sciences and disciplines.  Dan BARBER/Western Auto Scholarship       $500 - 1 year only Each Henderson County Public High School may nominate one male and one female graduating senior. The nominee must have played and lettered in three varsity sports for two or more years during grades 9-12 (one of those years being their senior year). The nominee must have a GPA of 3.0 or better. Financial need is not a requirement.  

Denis BARTON Scholarship          $3,000
 The applicant must be a resident of either Transylvania County or Henderson County who has graduated from a public, private, parochial or home school program who wishes to pursue an undergraduate degree at a degree granting college or university and who demonstrates the need for financial assistance in order to attend an institution of higher learning. The applicant should have a cumulative GPA equivalent to a "C average" upon graduation. Preference will be given to students from Transylvania County. Financial need will be more strongly considered than grades. An adult student will be considered for this scholarship if he or she can demonstrate reason as to why he or she did not pursue his or her college education immediately after high school. Such reasons would include but are not limited to military service, medical reasons, family obligations, and/or mission work. The recipient must be awarded the scholarship prior to the age of 30. 

David H. and Betty R. BUCHER ENGINEERING Scholarship    $1,000 - 1 year only
The recipient must be a graduating senior of any Henderson County public, private or parochial high school seeking to further his or her education beyond high school. The recipient must be accepted to an accredited degree-granting college or university and be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of engineering. The applicant should have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or better and should be involved in extracurricular as well as community activities.   

 David H. and Betty R. BUCHER NURSING Scholarship     $1,000 - 1 year only 
This scholarship is to provide financial support to graduating seniors of any Henderson County public, private or parochial high school seeking to further their education beyond high school. Recipients of this scholarship must be accepted to an accredited degree-granting college or university and be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of nursing. The applicant should be involved in extracurricular as well as community activities.  BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL Women’s Club      $1,000 – 1 year only The applicant must be a graduating senior from a school in Henderson County and show strong academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or better and demonstrate financial need. Students must be pursing their undergraduate education in a two- or four-year accredited institution.  

Maggie Trimble COOK         $1,000 – 1 year only
 This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for a deserving girl who needs financial assistance to attend college to prepare for a career in nursing, home economics, or math. 

Amy Duryee COURTENAY Scholarship        $750
This scholarship is for a student graduating from either public or private secondary high school in Henderson County who wishes to study nursing or the nursing sciences or medically technical support skills and technologies related to hospital procedures. The recipient must graduate in the top 50% of his or her high school class.  

Gregory Stephen Wright The "CROSSROADS" Scholarship     $1,000 - 1 year only
The applicant should attend Hendersonville High School and be overcoming a significant and difficult challenge, such as a physical handicap, severe depression, the death of a parent, severe health complication, or having a child while in school and continuing successfully. The applicant also may be someone who faced such a challenge and then came back to school and is succeeding on a second effort. Preference will be given to those who inspire others by overcoming their challenge and who participate in extracurricular activities. ***An essay titled “My Crossroad Experience” is required as a part of the application to be co-signed by some significant other person in the applicant’s life who has been a part of helping in this life experience.***    Jane and Tom DAVIS Scholarship         $1,000 The applicant must be a graduating senior or graduate of a Henderson County public school and demonstrate financial need.  The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better who is seeking an education beyond high school to pursue a degree in the health care field. 

Ray V. DUNK Scholarship (ACCOUNTING)        $4,000
This scholarship is for students graduating from high school or the equivalent who are residents of Henderson County and pursuing a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited educational institution with a focus on accounting. Applicants for this scholarship should be “top students” with high scholastic achievements and a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4 point scale (B or better). Consideration may be given to all-round performance in school, community involvement and extra-curricular activities. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
